Comic is a set of php scripts that can set up and manage a webcomic site without the need for mysql
Why use Comic?
This is a pretty crutial, sane and simple question really. The short answer is my honest view that I think Comic is better than any of the alternatives.
No. 1 and the most important: Comic is in active development. I see so many webcomic systems just left at the wayside, what if the users want a new feature, or a security bug revealed itself? Sufficed to say, it's in your best interests to use active software.
· Comic is free, open source, software. So you have no reason not to use it!
· Plug and play: Upload just one small file to your site and Comic will download, install and configure itself! No hassle, no confusion, and you don't need a web-guru to get it started.
· It's a system designed specificaly for your needs, not just a cover over an existing system. Comic does what you want it to do, in a way it should be done, and does it with style.
· Comic is fully and simply translatable into any language you want.
· Comic won't cramp your style: With a fully customisable template system coded right in the heart of Comic you can make your site look like whatever you want rather than a hollow template. Factor in the limitless functionality Comic can support with plugins and template plugins and you can mold comic into whatever you want.
· Comic could save you money! Comic doesn't require mysql. So it can run on lots more kinds of servers, and often you can find cheaper hosting plans that cut out the mysql.
· The cache system means Comic can show your viewers your comic in the quickest possible time. If you can't make a speedy site in Comic I feel quite safe saying you couldn't make it with anything (and that you should find a better hosting plan).
